Text Box: Modifying and tuning a Stagea
Text Box: When fitting much larger aftermarket brakes it is always wise to trial fit them if possible. Apart from the obvious size issues ( clearing wheels and dust covers) there may be other problems.
For example A P Racing brakes will fit but require the small lug used for holding the brake pipe system rigid removed. This can be easily taken off with an angle grinder

Text Box: Click here for a list of all Stagea parts where we have found an
alternative part numbers or equivalents available in the UK , There are quite a few parts that have very surprising UK equivalents so its worth checking here before ordering any parts from Japan .
Our thanks to skylinesaustralia.com for their help with the list.

Text Box: Although with most cars the norm is to tune the engine first the RS Four RB25 engine is in fact way in front of the rest of the car in the performance stakes especially if the induction and exhaust have already been modified .
As a general guide treat the engine as a skyline GTS as the engine is basically the same
The auto box is quite sturdy when in good condition and is usually good for up to around 350 bhp.

It is always far better to be safe than sorry
All cars need to be serviced regularly , high performance ones more so . The Stagea certainly comes into this category especially when tuned, High octane petrol (97) is recommended by Nissan for all turbo engines and should be used unless the car has been mapped for a lower grade. Fuel ,
Lower octane fuel can be used without damaging an engine in an emergency but drive sensibly and try to stay off the boost to be sure .

Text Box: UPGRADIND STAGEA BRAKES
Any brakes that will fit a skyline will fit a series one Stagea although some will require a few modifications
You can fit either GTS , 32GTR , 33GTR or even 34GTR . All will bolt on with only very minor mods. There is quite an improvement up the range but all are an upgrade on the stagea brakes.
Whichever you choose you will choose you will probably need to get the caliper bolts with them.
On the rear they are the same size but a different thread so there are no real issues. You may have to cut the dust cover off if you choose the larger discs or you can replace the Existing dust covers with the appropriate GTR ones. This does means taking the handbrake mechanism off .It will fit back as they are all the same.

On the fronts all genuine skyline calipers will fit will fit . The problem is the larger calipers may hit the existing wheels .It just depends on the design of the wheels.
As long as you have around an inch between the stagea caliper and the wheel the larger Brembo calipers will fit If its half an inch it will be close.
You need less clearance for GTS or 32 GTR calipers

Also before you buy any calipers check the size of your existing front caliper bolts
They will either be 12mm or 14mm (bolt not head size) Stageas can have either size.
Remember the hubs will have holes to match the bolt size you have now. If you get calipers with different size bolts you will either have to use inserts or drill out the hubs. If the new bolts are the same size then there is no issue.
Finally series one stageas have a banjo union from the brake pipe to caliper, Skylines have normal male female connection. You only need the last bit of the brake pipe with the male connector but its often easier to use the entire assembly back to the inner wing. If doing it this way be careful of the connector there - it is held on by a rather strange clip system which has to be undone first and connected last.
